Ok, dont laugh...........i have a metric spindle, metric tie rod and one of the "spindle savers" you see in the aftermarket world. when you put it all together, the castle nut / rod end cotter pin hole does not line up. Do you have to ream the spindles ??? or ???? Help anyone.

I just thought that maybe the spindle savers come pre drilled to accomodate a 5/8ths bolt for those that can use heim ends to set bump steer. I don't know how you could get a tierod end with a longer stud. Call the places that sell spindle savers and ask if they make the longer studded stock tierod end.

If you have a metric saver and it doesn't line up with your spindle the spindle could be bent. If your steer arm has been bent for ackerman you need to slot the saver. when we ran metric cars half the spindles we fetched from the junk yard were bent.

so you can get the nut on but not far enough for the cotter pin to go through the castle nut? If the nut goes on far enough then you could lock tight the nut.

Update: all parts are new, never reced yet. The guys at speedway motors said " I have not heard of that before" when you walk thru the pits, a lot of mods have these on, with a castle nut and cottor pin. I thought i was doing something wrong ???

Mine are the same way, I don't worry about the cotter pins and made it a part of my weekly nut and bolt check, never any trouble due to it.

Mine are the same way too, kevin. I initially used thin wire and was able to push it thru, but now I do the same as BW42. Wayne

I would replace the castle nut with a nylock nut. I've never had one of them loosen up on its own.
