I don't see Bob Sensiba. I believe the orange and white car is Paul Weisner and Randy Sweet behind him.

I'm not sure if this got answered or not but the engine in Howe's rambler was the AMC 390 cu. in. engine that came in the AMX. It was factory rated at 420 HP and actually ran pretty good. I don't know what engine it was based on.

I haven't looked at the photo yet, but if the white car has a florescent red/pink number 9 on it, that would be Bill Minch. Thanks marty Blume

Ah yes... THAT'S the Reffner Rambler I was talking about.... He, Trickle, and a somewhat lesser-know Wisconsin shoe by the name of Johnny Boeggemen (or somethin' like that) all landed Superamerica sponsorship back in the late 70's, called themselves the Blue, White, and Black Knights respectively, and went on a tear all over the midwest, running in both the REAL ASA and ARTGO series.... 'Sure was fun chasin' racin' back then...

I agree on the lineup the ornge one is Weisner but i think it is Sweet not Vanderlaan. That is the Brand x i was talking about Ross, it was a javalyn. Apparently with a AMC CHEVY engine. check out the link Harley put up!! thanx Harley!!!

Ohyeh...and the 9 is Bill Minch for sure. i think when Sweet was drivin the 17 Minches # was hot pink?? So it is possible this pic is a little earlier when Vanderlann was driving the 17 . They called the color Polish pink on the 17. I think Vanderlann drove it for 1 yr if that long ..then Sweet took over. The usual sponser on the Minch car was Minches tree service , outa G.R. according to the ph book back then if i remember right.

It was Butch Miller who performed the forced landing on a roadway. Where it was beats the heck out of me. I do know that somewhere buried in one of my unmarked VCR tapes is the news report of that incident, including an interview with Butch himself...
Here's another flying-related question; What well known driver set his plane down on the backstretch of a local racetrack? Bonus points if you can;
Name the track.
Name the date.
Name the event, and what the the stunt was called...

Dusterdude, that is right Butch Miller. The road was M-40 between Hamilton and Allegan about 10 mi s of Holland. He happen to see light's when the plane quit and landed it behind the car on the rd. He had just bought the plane in N.C. and was flying it home. the plane was a twin engine Beechcraft and he was solo. There is a really good chance that to this day, the driver of that car doesn't know he probably saved his life!!

You are RIGHT Spi-nex! Heck, even I'm not sure of the EXACT date, but it was during the '79 season when Senneker leased the then-paved Hartford oval and took a shot at race promoting. He ran a 100 lapper there every other weekend and drew some BIG name talent. (It was at one of those races that I saw both Mark Martin and Jr. Hanley for the first time) Around that same time the media had everyone convinced that NASA's Skylab was supposed to disintegrate, that pieces of it were going to make it through the atmosphere, AND that chunks of it were gonna land in people's yards or come crashing through their roofs! Senneker jumped on the frenzy, named his next event The Skylab 100, and promised that Skylab itself would land at the track that very night! Sure enuff, just after the national anthem, "out of the blue of the western sky" came Bob Senneker in his antique Piper J-5, with the word SKYLAB painted along it's fuselage! He expertly set the tiny craft down on the backstretch, taxied it into the pits, buckled into his Camaro, and went racin'!!

OK, I've got a question... Tom Marks followed up his wild lookin' red white 'n blue '57 Chevy with a '64 Chevelle. It had an equally patriotic paint job, and was a very nice lookin' piece. I have only seen one tiny photo of that car... EVER. It was part of a grouping of small pics on the back page of an old Marc Times. Does anybody have a better, full size shot of that car? It would sure be nice to see that thing again.... THANKS!
